Welcome to AF!!

Sounds like the crank position sensor is going bad. This is a common problem and it usually starts with the car stalling unexpectedly and after turning the ignition off and on again it will reset and the car will restart.

The sensor is located on the front of the engine and is not hard to replace if you have the tools. If not take it to a mechanic and have it replaced for you. The hardest part of the job is getting the harmonic balancer off. Sometimes the hassle factor is worth the money.
