cowl seal and wet floor

Thanks to everyone on this site. It has pointed me in the right direction for the issues I have had so far with this car. (blower motor, cowl seal, etc)

I have had the wet passenger floor issue when it rains. When tropical storm Hanna came through I had a puddle there. I checked the cowl seal and it had some cracks in it so I replaced it. The other day after it rained, the floor was damp again. I checked the seal to see if it may have fell down and it did not. While I had it all opened, I slowly poured water down the windshield and i could see a little water getting over the edge of the seal. Does this sound like what is still causing my floor is get damp? Should I try sealing the cowl vinyl cover to prevent water from even getting down there? I love the car but this is a really big design flaw in my opinion. Thanks

I would seal it but I would also make sure the channel is out far enough to allow the water to flow into the opening. Sometimes if the channel is not properly positioned it will allow water to enter the box. Also make sure that the drain is open. Get under the car and look up on the passenger side. There may be an L shaped rubber tube over the drain. If so remove it and run a wire hanger throught the opening to make sure it isn't blocked.

Definitely not trying to sell you anything as it can be fixed with the first option, your choice. Just two options for you. Hope this helps out.

You can use the first option and put a thin bead of rtv on top of the rubber seal before putting the cowl half back on if you still have water getting over it. Since the cowl is slick on the bottom, it will peel right off if you have to take it off again.
