slow acceleration at startup

just noticed this 2 days ago, 99 MS Ltd when I first start the car it has very little power and struggles to accelerate even if I floor it, seems to go away after driving a while

gonna take it in some time just wondering if this was a widely known symptom to a certain problem?

recently had replaced radiator, water pump (timing belt +wp 2 years ago then wp went out again), ac belt and steering belt, oil change

then drove around a little today and popped the hood after and some smoke was coming from behind the engine

Re: slow acceleration at startup

they could be unrelated, but a lot of times if you have a plugged PVC valve it will make oil leak around it and the area where the hose goes into on the other side of the engine....not sure if a montero will do that or not, I know when my pvc clogged on my 3si that happened. other things that can cause real bad pickup woudl be a computer issue, if it's that bad it shoudl trigger a light, or could be your throttle/throttle position sensor is stuck or bad. there are other things too but that's a good place to get started looking IMO.
