Re: just got a new header..

Remove O2 sensor.
Remove the old manifold.
Put the new one on.
Re install O2 sensor.

Done

Use PB Blaster 2 days, then 1 day, a few hours, and then during the operation

Re: just got a new header..

Not sure on the torque but pretty tight. A new gasket should also be used however if the old one is good then id just use that again.

PB Blaster....Go to Autozone and ask them where it is. It makes WD 40 look like water.

Re: just got a new header..

I suggest you get the service manual and read it. Seems like you have alot of questions for what should be a simple operation.

Re: just got a new header..

haha Keep asking the questions. Thats what this forum is here for. I was merely suggesting that a service manual would be best so that you dont have to keep getting online to ask questions. Bad phrase of wording on my part.

Yes its ok to drive after a few minutes. I suggest spraying it at night so that it has time to sit and do its magic.

Re: just got a new header..

well i replaced it! it looks amazing!!
i had to custom weld part of the exhaust part to fit it. it took all day and i bought the manual (didnt do much) but i finally got it done. the engine just sounds wierd now though.. :/
(just a guess) but i think the old manifold had a silencer on it, cuz there was a huge round pipe right on the manifold that wasnt on the new one. it makes a loud rattle now when i accelerate. even the slightest bit, but not when its at idle... i checked everything like 3 or 4 times and there's no loose parts i could find... think its just the new part??

Re: just got a new header..

The header doest have a pre-cat, its just straight pipe so its def going to sound different. However the rattle....Not to sure.

Re: just got a new header..

No one has it removed. What year car is yours? The '99b started coming with secondary air pumps for emissions purposes. years before that didnt have it. If you cut the wire to it, fix it and reset the code. Hopefully that will keep it off.
