Exclamation tranny slipping

i have a 2005 z71. i noticed that the tranny would only go into 1st and 2nd gear. no 3rd or fourth. all other gears are fine. i haven't found any leaks and i haven't checked the filter yet but the fluid level is good. any ideas?

Re: tranny slipping

What is the mileage and engine and transmission?
Slipping or just no shift?
Any check engine lights?
Get it on a transmission capable scanner and read out shift data and check shift solenoids.
Check for codes and post back code no.

Re: tranny slipping

its at about 70,000 miles. it won't shift into third or D. no check lights at all. i live on base in germany and i dont think the hobby shop has diagnostics but i'll ask them. being overseas, i had to order a filter/gasket so i can't drop the pan yet.

the previous owner (also in germany) drove it kinda hard, we do use the autobahn everyday, and its seen some mud a couple weeks ago. i think i may have gotton some dirt and water in it somehow.

also check the wiring to the/at the transmission ....and the connector pins etc for damage....fluid good with no 3 or 4th gear...

If it slips your probably gonna have to rebuild it ,,, fluid should be damaged...though..
