Stuttering 99 Windstar

During the summer months no issues on startup or normal operations and as soon as it gets cool meaning (frosty outside) Engine bucks, sputters and surges but once it gets up to normal running conditions after you start the vehicle again no problems but engine light is on. Code P0353 new wires and plugs and still wild bronco effects. Possibly Coil Pack?

Thanks in advance!
Gord

On the code library of my code reader P0353 refer to IGNITION COIL C PRIMARY/SECONDARY CIRCUIT. I would suspect the coil pack in first according to your code.

Re: Stuttering 99 Windstar

Happened again today but after normal running and letting it sit for a while and driving it again everything is good. I live in Canada so the temp this am was around 5 degrees Celcius and now the temp is 11 degrees so it doesn't take much to make it run bad or run good. I am going to get a new coil this week and change it and see if this was the issue.
thanks for the reply

Re: Stuttering 99 Windstar

Good news changed coil pack and everything is all good now! I took the old coil pack out it had hardly no plastic covering on the bottom or the sides. You can see the layers of metal that's how badly it was rusted. One question if possble there was the left over rusted piece where the Radio Interference Capacitor plug must have been but i couldn't find the plug or wires would that cause by radio to go static only AM not FM? Is it needed?

Re: Stuttering 99 Windstar

You may want to repost your question to get a larger audience. If you don't have an objectional radio interference noise, then don't bother. If you do, then replace it. You can get a universal suppressor for it. Off hand, I don't recall how that gets connected on your Winnie, but typically they have a wire connected to the hot/battery wire to the coil, it's body is grounded to the engine. Often, there are more than one of these type supressors and even a resistor type suppressor. So, you may not be having as much of a problem with loosing just that one because of these redundant or extra suppressors.
