EGR Position Sensor?

Ok..Check engine light on. Took it to Autozone, They said it was the EGR code. 0404 I think. Well after forever of trying everything from cleaning the EGR to taking it off starting the truck and trying to blow out the ports with no luck I bite the bullet and go buy a new EGR. Well for two days or so no light. Then there it was back on. Took it back to Autozone and its still throwing the EGR code!!! So? The guys at Autozone tell me to try a new EGR position sensor next...but they dont carry one. Nor does AdvanceAuto. What next? Help please!
'98 S10 2.2 man. 2wd Thanks guys!

Re: EGR Position Sensor?

Any other codes like 1404?

The sensor is in the egr valve.
Remove valve and make sure there is no carbon under plunger.

To test the egr valve you need a engine capable scanner that can red actual and desired egr valve position.

Check with your dealer on a tsb for a VCM reflash to cure problems setting that code or code 1404
