Question 89 cherokee fuel pump

Is it possaible to install an external fuel pump instead of a tank mounted? If so what would be the best way to do this? I've had to take pump out twice becuse of a loose wire. 89 cherokee with 4.0 235 miles auto.

Re: 89 cherokee fuel pump

I lloked at this a few years ago...... and it is possible, bu tis more trouble than setting up the stock fuel pump properly.

Many external fuel pumps are intended for carburetors and will not work for EFI. You can get constant-pressure (about 35 psi) pumps but by the time you buy them, wire then up and modify the fuel line to accomodate they, you could fix the in-tank unit properly.
