94 thunderbirds

my 94 thunderbirds button on the gearshifter broke now my car will not engage into drive its stuck in park.Can i rig it so i could pull the cable that runs to the gear shifter.example would be like if you broke the hood latch and now have to pull the cable to unlock the hood?thanx

I would suggest a trip to the scrapyard to get a used unit in good condition.
