So, It's Been A While

Was I in the Stealth, Nope. The GTC, no again. I was in the damn Escape, irritated on the way home from going out after hours on call for work but that's a different story.

I'm headed to get on the interstate when I get cut off by a maroon Mustang Cobra. He keeps taking off real fast and going about 10 over the limit. We hit the on ramp and it has a decent bend in it. Most people don't go over 50 MPH. I normally take it at 70-75 which is pushing it to the breaking point on that Escape. However, this Mustang was too scared to go more than about 60 MPH or so. So, I'm riding his ass and I can hear him feathering the throttle. As soon as it straightens out he gets it up to 85 MPH or so.

Now, I had to hope of keeping up with him and I shouldn't have been able to hold that turn any better. I hope he grows a pair next time cause' I would be embarrassed had that been me.

Another case of capable car, incapable driver. Now, if only I could have caught him in the Stealth.

Re: So, It's Been A While

LOL! Well, you wouldn't have just caught him in the stealth...if the Stealth is running aftermarket turbos you would have murdered him.

Although, ever since the previous gen Cobras (390hp/390tq) they've grown some huevos. I used to love teasing the older 1990's SN95 (4.6L) Cobras. But the blown ones are too fast for me now. Hell, I don't know if I could even take a 300hp GT in the Volvo. When the 928 is finished, no problem...but that's a lengthy project.

You bring up a point about capable car, incapable driver.

it's always been strange to me...any old jack-ass moron driver (probably many on this board included) can walk on to any car lot, and buy a car with such performance, the driver is not capable of handling that machine anywhere near it's limit.

Yet the fastest speed limit here in CA is 70mph.

This confuses me.

I honestly think you should be required to take a special high performance driver's course in order to purchase a super high performance car.

I've seen how people drive. This country is full of idiots and arse-holes. And it's bad enough that the idiots swerving in and out of traffic in front of me have 200hp, let alone 500+.

And don't even get me started on HIGH SCHOOL kids - with NO experience behind the wheel, and who will race ANYONE who throws a rev at them - driving modified STI's and EVOs making 400+HP. That's a recipe for wrapping a teenager around a light pole right there.

Makes no effing sense.

I agree completely. Your license determines how fast of a car you can buy and determines how fast you can drive and have different lanes with different speeds like in Europe.

Judging by how fast he was taking off he wouldn't have left my Stealth behind and it's stock. The GTC would have had to really work for it. Either way I would have been able to take that turn faster.

What year was the Cobra? I know the 99and 01's were still n/a 4.6L DOHC with 320hp. The 03-04 were the blown 4.6L DOHC Cobras which are pretty quick machines. Either, get back in the Stealth!

I'm not sure of the year but it has to be late 90s early 00s. It had IRS so he still has no excuse being paced by an Escape.

As for the Stealth. I couldn't have been in it. I was out on call that night for work. Besides, it just failed safety because of the reverse lights always being on. I don't know why I didn't change it first. I know they won't pass it. I just forgot and I'm lazy, but now I'll have to do it tomorrow.

Re: So, It's Been A While

Haha yeah, well, get it back on the road ASAP. Mid 90's Cobras would be a breeze, but the 99 and 01 Cobra would be a pretty good race for you assuming the guy could drive lol.

Re: So, It's Been A While

it all depends on the type of cobra. a cobra r isn't something i'd mess with even with a 350hp car. those shits are quick.

Huge waste of money.

The standard Cobra to follow was 390/390.

The Cobra R was 385/385.

Re: So, It's Been A While

Yeah, although that 385 was NA and with a different engine (5.4), and it handled better. Downside was it was expensive and rare, plus I hate the wing.

03 cobra = stock s/c ftw

Re: So, It's Been A While

I am a fan of the snailS. lol

Thread Highjack: How much would it cost to turn a LSJ into a turbo car when it was s/c from the factory? I doubt you would have to change compression. May just be easier to buy a new turbo balt and then go aftermarket turbo if you were that serious though.

Re: So, It's Been A While

around 4k for the good kit from Hahn, somewhere in the ballpark of 400whp give or take. Comes with EBC, so you can get more out of it. No internal modification needed.

I am doing that or buying the TVS Harrop 1320 Supercharger.
