Re: Installed aftermarket head unit....

Welcome to AF.

To clarify you installed a new radio/stereo system and the problem occurred after installation?

Did you remove head unit and double check the wiring harnesses/connectors especially at the climate control unit?

Re: Installed aftermarket head unit....

yeah, but I dont think he would have to remove the DIC or the HVAC controlls to put an aftermarket deck in. Did you cut and splice wires, or use one of them wire harness connectors from wally world?

Re: Installed aftermarket head unit....

check to make sure the ground, B+, and accessory are hooked up correctly.

I would just unplug the aftermarket deck and the check the operation of the DIC and HVAC. If it works, chances are you have a wiring problem.

I was referring to removing the radio/stereo again not the DIC or HVAC head unit.

He's lost something with the new radio install. Maybe class 2 serial data communications at least associated with the DIC. Is this a standard or enhanced DIC?

Nope, unfortuanly that ship has sailed.

I think Bob is onto something though. Last radio install I did on a GP I could have swore the radio connector had a data line going to the radio for some reason. Maybe you hooked it up to something it wasn't supposed to be hooked up to by mistake????

What you have to do though is go back inside and check to make sure all the wires are hooked up to where they are supposed to be. You can use this site for reference. Scroll down to "1979-current" vehicles". Any wires that you have that arent listed in this site need to be taped off and not hooked to anything.

Re: Installed aftermarket head unit....

The factory harness does have a Class 2 data on the 02 GP
but i have never found out what it does because any harness i have ever used never had a pin going to it...

i wanted to believe it had SOMEEE sort of control for the steering wheel controls, but all those wires are located on the red plug along with the amp turn on...

come to think of it..it might actually be for the door chimes?
anyways...

do you have the factory bose system?
