Gtra Differential Spec / Maintenance
I have pulled the diff (3rd member I guess for you guys in the States) out of my GTRA to put an alloy centre in and to weld the support tubes to the shock mount arms (as per GTS). For those of you with GTRA's, the spec I found was as follows;
- Tex Racing 3.5 : 1 ratio centre, - Centre fitted with a 'True Trac' limited slip carrier, - All diff centre hardware, capscrews that have been lockwired, - Diff housing has block off plates and seals fitted to axle tubes to prevent oil sloshing out the tubes away from the centre while cornering. An interesting maintenance point that I picked up, was advice from the race shop that does my diff centre work to grease the floater hub bearings. I have never done this on my other race cars and have relied on the diff oil to lube the hub bearings. These cars have all been sprint race cars though, so not taking long periods of sustained heat build up. I will be re-assembling the hubs greased as advised. What do you guys do with lubing the floater hubs when you refit them? |

Re: Gtra Differential Spec / Maintenance
Great question. I'm very interested as I plan to rebuild the diff over the winter, and redo the rear brakes. This means that I'm gonna be in the same boat you are currently.

Re: Gtra Differential Spec / Maintenance
From page 31 of GTS Owners Manual:
"Wheel bearings; 20-30 hours bearings should be repacked using a high temp. synthetic grease." I would guess that this applies to both front and rear bearings as the rears are not lubed by the differential gear lube. Anybody know any different? Thanks, Mike |
