lowering an '86 wagon

Hi guys hope ya well,

can anyone point me in the direction of a set of lowering springs for my Caprice 86 wagon...2/3" drop would be great...do the later smoothy B body springs fit?

cheers

Re: lowering an '86 wagon

There are probably aftermarket drop spindles and springs for it. Me, I like the lo-tech approach. I take the springs out and cut an even coil out of them. Make sure there is no orientation between the top and bottom of the sprint, if there is, you have to be exact (within an 1/8" should do it) with the cut. I use a 2' carpenter's
square to get the orientation dead on.

If there is no orientation, I'll cut 1.5 coils out which worked out on my last wagon I lowered.

There is an other way which involves heating the springs with a torch, which I don't recommend although it is fast, too fast in some cases and the car winds up being too low.
