Will a 1990 Grand Am 2.5 motor fit in a 1997 Grand Am?
I have a 1990 Grand Am that has over 250,000 miles on the car. I recently got a motor given to me that had 50,000 miles when I got it. I have only added about 6,000 miles to the motor and it is in excellent condition, but the 1990 grand am is just plain wore out, the body is in horrible condition. I have a friend that has a blown motor in her 1997 Grand am, it has a 2.4 liter in it right now. Would my engine fit into her car? I would like to actually buy her car so I can have a second car for work! Thanks for any advice anyone can give!

No it will not fit and find another 2.4 which are very hard to find used.An used 2.4 goes for at least $1,200.00 if you can find one.

Search around a bit. The 2.4 was a very common motor, used in the grand am, cavalier, malibu to name a few. Make sure the engine code matches the one you have, and a few sensors might need to be swapped.

No it wont work and if you ever did figure out how to do it, you couldnt register the car anyways. The 2.5 is simply too old of a motor. try www.car-part.com to locate the 2.4. I simply just try to stay away from the 2.4 period myself but they can be found reasonably cheap
