Fuses keep blowing, any ideas?
Hey guys:
Since I got my hatch I have noticed that a lot of the little things inside don't work. The dome light, the seatbelt "beep," and a lot of the interior lights. Thinking that fuses may be the problem, I checked out most of them and found a 15a fuse that was blown. When I tried putting in a replacement fuse, there was a bright blue spark and the new fuse was blown. Any ideas? I really don't have a clue. Thanks in advance. |

i keep getting this too, its the fuse for the lighter, dome light, clock and i think the door buzzer too, not sure, i think it might be wires touching a ground spot. i havent searched mine out yet. i think its probably my clock wires tho, if so i'm takin them out cuz I dont need the clock. thats what my CD decks for haha
but yea see if those wires are grounding anywhere first.if u find out what it is lemme know for sure man cuz i want my dome light to work haha

I'm having a similar problem with my civic.
I have an old alpine stereo in the car, it's the one where the whole deck pulls out of the dash (before they had the detachable face plates). Anyhow, if I have the deck in (and not turned on) and go to turn on the cars head lights the fuse for the dash lights blow. If I change the fuse and pull the deck out, it doesnt blow. It's a minor thing but its a pain in the butt to have to remove the stereo at night time so I can have dashlights. One day I'll get around to either ripping it apart and trying to wire it correctly or just getting a new deck installed (I presume the place would install it correctly and not follow the same setup?) I don't think the deck has constant power either because when the car is off the deck loses it's presets. I'm tempted to put a 15 fuse in the place of a 10 to see if it works but I have really bad luck and well you know how things go ![]() This is my first car so forgive me if I overstep myself, but when you replaced the fuse, did you have the car running? If so, try shutting it off and changing it. Good luck! Joey. |

Whew, you guys are fast!
Yea, my dad suggested that it may be a short circuit somewhere, but like 1PhatCX said, it is that one fuse that keeps popping like that. Since I have the original radio as well, I can't see any of the readings on that. I'll try looking tomorrow morning when there is more light and I will try to find any unusual wiring. Thanks for your help everyone

i had a problem like that with another car of mine, the pwr window circuit breaker kept trippin, turned out a wire was rubbing on teh metal body and the isolation got stripped off, so it was grounded, that kept tripping the fuse
