Check engine light is on code reader indicates its the evaporative system, car has been siting idle for a few weeks, any suggestions would be appreciated,
The code reader book points out anything from the charcoal canister to the fuel tank etc.

Just put some gas in it and drive.
The gas cap prob just lost it's seal.

Re: 2003 impala LS

This is really tough because it could be your gas cap, but it could be anything else, too. I have had this code for going on three years now. Short of a smoke test (which I refuse to pay for), I can't think of another diagnostic except the part swap method, which is ridiculously expensive. Good luck, and if you figure it out let us know.
