Need help with some painting teckniques.....

As you can see the paint is chipping and peeling off all around the trim piece and below around the rad. It is also doing this around the back bumper. So, I have this wonderfull idea of painting the trim and everything below it black. Now I don't want to pay someone to do this professionally, I want to do it myself.

So, what do I need to do to make it last, I'm hoping I can do a good enough job so it'll last a good year or two.

No, I don't have a paint gun or any previous experience. I'm hoping there is something in a spray can that will work.

Thanks.

Try preping it , priming it then putting a 3 or 4 coat of the top coat, laquer it and then you can buy a "cling film" type of protective film which will stop any stones chipping it off, i have never tried it but i have heard that it works!

And by prepping it you mean? I know I have to sand but how? I need detailed instructions if possible.

that sucks man, yea restoration is a bitch...

as for track season im gonna probably be in the 17's still heh so I doubt its worth it for me to hit up race city...maybe for a laugh.

maybe ill be under 17 this year with the exhaust heh

doubt it though...my body on my civic though is in great shape, no rust...just the engine sucks horribly

id just take any spots of rust to a body shop, I can give a recommendation if your willing to fork out the $$$.

Huh.... you know a bodyshop or what? Cause I'll have my parents payed off by July.... I hope. Then the rust must go. Let me know.

If your running high 16's you'd still kick my ass. I can't drive stick that good.
