1998 Buick Park Avenue Ultra shudder under hard acceleration
I’m looking at buying a used 1998 Park Avenue Ultra. It’s a very nice looking car in good shape. There is one thing that is making me hesitate to buy it. During hard acceleration there is loud shudder that occurs. It almost seems like the transmission could be popping out of gear or traction control is kicking in. If I turn traction control off it still does it. Having the traction control on or off makes no difference.
Has anyone had this occur with their Park Ave.? Thanks. Matt |

Oh, I forgot to mention. This problem is occurring when accelerating from a stop-light.

Re: 1998 Buick Park Avenue Ultra shudder under hard acceleration
I had the same exact problem with my 98 Lesabre. Turned out it was the 'Pressure Control Selenoid' a.k.a. PCS . It ended up costing me just over $600 to fix it. One way to know for sure that it's the PCS is to manually start off in first gear and accellerate . If the car does not shudder then it's definitly the PCS.
You can read some more info about it in this thread: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...23&postcount=4. Good Luck
