dash a/c

Good evening all. I have a 2000 Explorer (Eddie Bauer AWD 5.0) with the digital electronic a/c controls (the fan is controlled by the wheel on the left hand side) The problem that I am having is that the blower will only run on hi (or not at all.) I'm pretty sure that this has happened to someone here and I was wondering if someone had a diagnosis of what the problem may be. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
J

Sounds like the electronic blower motor controller is shot. This is not a cheap part though, so I'd suggest you do some testing first. Unfortunately, testing is difficult without an oscilloscope which will cost you more than the controller if you don't have access to one. The controller controls the fan speed by Pulse Width Modulation (PWM).

You will have to buy the part from dealer parts probably, ask to look at the microfilm it should give you an exact location. Usually close to the blower motor. Look along the firewall along the top of heater case first.

Re: dash a/c

Rhandwor is correct, the blower motor speed controller is located under the hood near the blower motor. There will be a 5-terminal connector plugged into it with wire colors tan/orange, brown/orange, white/pink, orange/black, and black. The orange/black and black wires will be in a row by themselves and of larger guage.
