Cool Speed Sensor? 95 Villager

Ok.... another question....... I have a 95 Villager and on the front wheel on drivers side there is 2 hoses. I know one is the break hose. Is the other the speed sensor? It has been taped and is crinked. Is this just wire and if so can I just match the wires and splice them back to make it a bit shorter? Will it mess with the ABS system? Also when I was parked and went into reverse and then in drive..... the breaks went all the way down and shuddered and the van moved. then stopped and no problems. Any Ideas? I know I need to check the front pads again to make sure all is ok. There is a slight noise comming from the front end on the drivers side, kinda almost like a scraping sound. Had new front struts installed and new pads on the front.

Is the ABS lite on?? If not the wiring should be ok, but if on I would remove tape and try connecting wires by soldering and covering each wire with electrical protective shrink covers. (I can't think of actual name now but you can get them at a parts store just explain to salesman what you plan to do< they are cheap)

Check the vacuum hose for the brake booster for leaks.

When were the struts and brake pads installed? I would check the front pads again. Let us know how they are wearing.
