'05 Diesel Oil Pressure

I have a friend with a '05 diesel Silverado and the oil pressure is showing 20psi on the gauge at idle. Is this normal? Even my '05 5.3 stays about 40psi at idle.

Re: '05 Diesel Oil Pressure

Hey Sonny
I got a '04 Duramax work truck and the pressure has been as low as about 20-25 when idling with a warm motor and usually runs around 40-50psi cruising 65-70 down the highway. I've also read on one of the diesel forums that the service manuals says that readings as low as 15psi while idling is acceptable, seems a little a low to me been driving this work truck for over a year with out issue. Maybe this will help also tell your buddy there are a lot of diesel forums out there with lots of info on these motors.
Have a good one Danny-
