95 Sierra problem

Alright I have a 1995 Sierra,V8, 5.7 liter truck with 319,000 miles and I just recently put a new serpentine belt on it and about every other time i start it up it whines very badly, I was just wondering if anyone would know why it whines so bad.
Thanks, Nate

Nate, I would love to help you but where is this whine from?, a pulley, the transmission, the p/s? First thing is remove the belt start the engine, if no noise check/feel each pully for roughness or excess play. Only you listen to and pinpoint the source

Re: 95 Sierra problem

Hey thanks Max for replying to the question, Im at work now so I cant check it, but could it be that I possibly got the wrong type of belt from Autozone. (Also I'm really not a knowledgeable person with cars, but im trying to learn some things so I dont screw anything up since the trucks lasted this long so far)

Autozone.com, repair guides has some good info on general tech/car/truck repairs.
