Cost of replacing engine?

I found a 3000gt down the road from my house on a mechanics lot. It is $1000 but he says it needs a new engine. The specifics on that I do not know. But, if I were to buy an engine, could anyone give me an estimate how much it would cost to get a new engine put in. As for the year, I am not sure. It doesn't have pop up headlights. So it is a 94+ correct?

Re: Cost of replacing engine?

if it's turbo, it's a good price. If it's non-turbo... don't waste your money. You'll spend more than double the cost of the car, just getting it back on the road. You can buy a running and driving one for less than you'll have into fixing that one.
