Spark Problem

I have a 1988 jetta clx .It does not whant to start.I have check theres is no spark. I have tested the coil and ign module in my wife volkswagen and both are working.I dont know if there is a relay/fuse in the system that switch the power on to the module.My thoughts are that this problem is coming for a wile.When the car did start and you drive it,it will lose a spark or two and the rev counter will drop to 0 and go up agian.It is for this reson that i think it is a simple electric fault that needs to be sorted out.
