Re: Need Timing Help
What you want is the firing order for the lincoln motor is this correct. Are you using the computer controls from the newer motor is this correct. Apparently your using the intake from the newer motor? Put exactly what you are using
as this will help. |

Re: Need Timing Help
The ign. firing order is the same for both engines,15426378. The 1-4 cylinders are on the passenger side of the engine 5-8 on the drivers side and the rotation of the distributer is counterclockwise . The fuel injectors are batch fired on the pickups original engine. Four injectors fire on one bank every time the ignition is triggered, and a spark is sent out of the coil. This alternates left and right. On the Lincoln engine, fuel is delivered by sequential fuel injection. If you want this type of system you'll need the computer, wiring harness and intake/fuel injector system from the Lincoln. You shouldn't need the injector firing order if you use the original wiring harness. It'll only go on one way. Or, you could install the trucks intake/fuel injector system onto the Lincoln engine and just run the batch fire system. This would be simpler than rewiring the engine electrical system. On the cam, make sure that it is compatible with a computer controlled engine. If it is not it will not run correctly no matter witch control system you use.

Re: Need Timing Help
I guess it would depend on the end result your looking for. If your looking for the most performance, the sequential system has more precise control over your fuel system than the batch fire system. If this is just an engine swap to get you back on the road, and this is the engine you found, I would say the batch system would be good. Both systems are adjustable with aftermarket chips and tuners. I guess if I was doing this swap I would use the trucks original system. I think it would give less trouble down the road.

Re: Need Timing Help
mcmalloy is correct, all 302`s dont have the same firing order. The HO 302 is the same as the 351w, 13726548....different cam too, make sure you got the right one. You can rewire the injectors to match, split the wrap on the harness to have enuff length, just make sure you mark which cyls they go to before you start with something that wont come off easily. It may not be pretty but it`ll work. once you get it running right you can lengthen wires if necessary to make it neater.

Re: Need Timing Help
I believe the water pumps are differant too,the Lincoln is a reverse flow and the truck is not.If there is a hard way,Ford has it and does 6 month changes.
