99 s-10 dash lights

I have no dash lights. the radio lights during the day but when darkness falls no lights on the radio. the switch to the left of the steering column works until i put the key in to start it and then becomes inoperable have checked fuses, any ideas?????

Check the dash light dimmer switch.
For power in and out to dash lights.
Check all fuses to the dash light circuit.
Sometimes the get out of adjustment or sometime quit.
Crank dash lights lights up and down.
