First of all what is average to you? and what motor are you talking about and what type of turbo and size like t3/t4 t77 cause it could be any where from like 200 rpm from a turbo on a firetruck to 7000rpm on a race car

on a 4clyd car a adverage turbo usuallys starts to spool about 2500rmps and makes its boost at around 4000-6500rmps. im not 2 fimilat with the whole "t3/t4" turbo systems i stick to my gt2530 and my td-o6 and of course the t-25, t-28, and the almighty t-78, t-88 and t-51
but basicallt the bigger turbo you put on a 4clyd car the longer it will take to spool, also if you want a quick spoolin turbo get a ball bearing turbo, they spool alot quicker than a cemitrical!

hope this helps

That's in first gear, in other gears it can spool up completely in 500-1k rpms.

It's not only how long the turbo takes to spool-up, also depends on the size of piping and length, along with how big the IC is. All that has to be pressurized too, before the engine will see boost... hehehe
