Re: obd0 to 0bd1?

First use the search. There are at least 3 writeups that I used to do this. Also you have an hf so it becomes 3x easier.

If you decide that you don't want to touch the wiring yourself, go to www.rywire.com they have a conversion harness for you.

Re: obd0 to 0bd1?

So if i get the OBD0 to OBD1 ECU Conversion Harness from rywire, than i don't need a new engine harness? just a new ecu (most likely p28), obd1 distributor, and a 4 wire o2 sensor. If so, what kind of distributor should i get??

Re: obd0 to 0bd1?

I'm pretty sure they're about all the same, so if they all fit, then just get whatever one you can get your hands on that's OBD-1.

I'm thinking they're just like the OBD-0 dizzys in that they all used the same parts, so you could use an HF dizzy for an Si dizzy, same with 90-91 EX, etc. Any DPFI dizzy was compatible with any other DPFI dizzy, and the DOHC ZC was the same as the DPFI as well, except the placement of the "legs".

The only diffs between the DPFI and MPFI dizzys back in that day was that the MPFI dizzy has another sensor in it... you can run your MPFI engine on a DPFI dizzy, but it won't run quite right, and it will throw a CEL.

The DOHC ZC has the CYP on the other cam, so its dizzy could be replaced with a DPFI dizzy, and you'd have no problems.. the same is said for an MPFI dizzy, but you'd have a choice of whether to use the CYP in the dizzy or the one on the other cam.

Re: obd0 to 0bd1?

okay thanks for the info because i think i need to switch over because.......I finally took my car for a real drive today and i figured out that my 1991 b16a crx hf (suppose to be obd0 vtec) rev limit is at about 7500. That's odd becuase I read that the b16a's rev limiter is at 8200. Anyone got any thoughts on why it is like that?

Re: obd0 to 0bd1?

the rev limit is set by the ECU... find out what ECU you're using.

Re: obd0 to 0bd1?

For the tunability, yes... for any other reason, no.

Simply put, most chipping/tuning companies don't support many OBD-0 ECU's.. and it seems that even the software is starting to go the wayside, to the point that OBD-1 is taking over for tuning, however, there are still a few tuning programs and setups that will allow OBD-0 Compliance.

So, for the sake of tuning, use the OBD-1 setup... if you're just looking for emissions or something like that, stick with OBD-0.

If you're looking for an engine swap that's OBD-1, convert.

Re: obd0 to 0bd1?

WTF do you need a VAFC for?

Most of us are running stock/chipped ECU's and a stock chipped ECU can handle (in some cases) just about all the HP you wanna throw at it.

If you wanna wire it up, you have to get a hold of Apex Integration (Apex'I) and see what they say about it.

Re: obd0 to 0bd1?

What all is done to your b16? By the sounds of it not a whole lot especially seeing it was ran as obd-0. Keep in mind hp/torque comes from your cylinder head. You can tune your ecu and apex all day long, and most likely not get the results you are looking for. \\

Your ecu determines the amount of air and fuel it will deliver. In order to get that your internals need to be there to back it.

Re: obd0 to 0bd1?

Exactally....that's why i want to know what is needed to be done to convert to obd-1, so it will be easier for to put aftermarket internals (and tune) in it.......anyways i found out that's it'll cost me about $450 just to convert to obd-1 (dizzy , Ecu, obd0-obd1 conversion harness, 4 wire o2 sensor)

Re: obd0 to 0bd1?

diz.(92 -95) most common
injectors(or entire intake mani with rail.)
ecu /(p28 most common)
4 wire 02
rywire harness (or wire up your own)

If you shop around it sh0uld be less then $450.
