Have any of you noticed this?
Has anybody noticed how cheap you can buy a used 4th-gen Max? I'm looking into buying either a 96 or 97 SE 5-speed(second car). I have seen a few under $7,000 that are right at about 85,000 miles. I just can't figure out why these cars are so cheap. I think it is the surplus in new cars. Any of you guys noticed this?

i bought my 95 in jan 2001 for only $8500. it depends on where you go too, some of the local dealerships around here are still asking 15,000 for a 97.

I think it is partially because many people don't recognize the potential of the Max.

Being that you are in Atlanta, it seems like you could find some good deals. I've seen a few here under 100,000 miles for under $6500. Good condition 5-speeds and autos.

a 97 Max in good condition, fully loaded, is about $8k (120,000 miles). But if you think about it, they're coming out with the 2004 model soon. That's a car that is SEVEN years old and probably has over 100,000 miles on it. I say it seems about right. Also, let the prices drop! When I'm ready to get a new Max, hopefully the 2k2 or 2k3 models will be nice and cheap.

The problem is that the 1995-1999 maximas...
are now going to be 2 body styles old. In 2000, the Maxima changed it's body style to what it is up to date. And now the 2004 Maxima is about to be released. So the fact that Nissan has changed there car's look so much in the past few years greatly decreases it's value.

Yeah, that's the biggest reason why the Blue Book has gone way down. Our cars are pretty old now, even though they tend to run like new. I love it.
