Ignition Problem

I have a 1999 Grand Am with the 4 cyclinder. While driving along the dash stops working, the gauges stop working and the HVAC stop working. The car still drives, but no gauges or speedometer. Could this be a problem with the ignition switch or the BCM ? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Ignition Problem

Welcome to AF.

I would start by checking all the fuses, maxi, mini, and regular. Thier are 3 fuse boxes, one on each end of the dash and one under the hood, they all say what they are for on thier lids.

If they are good I would have it scanned with a high quality scan tool.
Both the BCM and Ignition switch could cause such problems but unsure with out testing the components.

Thier is a test procedure for the Ign. switch in the Tips and Maintenance sub forum, check it out !
