Re: Best Crx Dx Swap!!!!!!!!!!!!
First thing: Save yourself some time and trouble and only hit shift at the beginning of the sentence instead of every word...makes it hard to read too. Or if you want to be really lazy, like I am sometimes, just ignore the shift key all together, its still easy to read then.
Second: What type of budget we talking about? Who is doing the work? What kind of experience do you have working on cars in general? on Hondas? The JDM D15 Vtec is basically the same as the USDM D16 Vtecs. Sometimes its easier to just get the D15, sometimes its easier to get a D16. Check the FAQ to see what engines are easy to swap, which ones take a little more to swap. Its there for a reason.

Re: Best Crx Dx Swap!!!!!!!!!!!!
"sum friend" is never enough... /spellchk
What you actually need is someone with a little knowledge... especially if you plan on getting this done in a reasonable amount of time and having it be reliable and not falling apart. Attention to detail is the most stressed part of doing engine swaps. Any D-series swap will be a bolt in for you, although they may require swapping to MPFI (unless you don't mind missing a cool sound and about 15 HP in most cases.) Your DPFI manifold will fit on any D-series head except the DOHC ZC... and there is even an adapter you can get that will allow you to use your DPFI (or any other MPFI) manifold on the DOHC head. 600 is not a budget.. it's a few parts. Welcome to our world. If you want it to beat ANYTHING else, you need to think about alot of things before you just jump out there and try to build some twin-charged B20/Vtec with a 300 shot of Zex and a 4 foot interfooler in the stock front bumper... w/ a 4" catback exhaust courtesy of some diesel truck that was sitting on the highway... it doesn't work like that. The best thing you can do at this point is search... then, when you think you've got enough information, search some more..

Re: Best Crx Dx Swap!!!!!!!!!!!!
$600? Get a MPFI setup and/or do some research on a "Mini-Me" swap because thats about all your going to get for $600 with enough spare money to cover the little things here and there...never forget about those, if you do, you will end up with a $600 engine that you have to rigged to make work because you ran out of money to do things the correct way.
Most D15/16 Vtec engines will run around $500-600, sometimes with transmissions, sometimes without, just depends what deal you catch. But there goes your budget. That would end up requiring you to stick with your DPFI setup because you won't have the spare money to finish the conversion. And you won't have the Vtec engaging like it was meant to be, if you have it engaging at all. Performance wise, I would do the MPFI and/or Mini-me swap. If I was you, I would just find a MPFI setup, maybe an d16a6 cam(I believe they are swapable) and call it quits on the engine for now and turn towards your suspension, but thats just me.

Re: Best Crx Dx Swap!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just throwing this out there, but the A6 cam swap is a no go.. it's about 6* offset on the timing, and essentially identical to a B2 cam... according to Brian Crower.
I had an A6 cam in my B2 for the longest time, because the B2 cam was shot, and we didn't have another one... If you get an adjustable cam gear, you get more advance than you would with a standard B2 cam... but it's worthless, because if you were using that much advance, you're skipping teeth anyway. For $600, you can get a MPFI swap, a decent regrind cam, and probably even an eBay header/cat combo, then have a local shop bend you a smooth 2.5 inch exhaust and put a can on it. All of this will probably get you around 120-150HP, depending on what cam you get... at this point, you're keeping up with ZC's and most stock Vtecs, and kicking stock EG-and-up Civics in the ass. Hell, in a CRX DX, with 140 HP, and good driving skills, you'd probably break late 14's to early 15's.

Obviously, your lack of literacy skills extends to reading as well.. use the search feature. I don't type this shit for my health.

And FFS... read the newb sticky ![]() BTW.. you fucked up w/ that last post. From here on out good luck. You've been ignored.

Re: Best Crx Dx Swap!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alright, thank you Dropzone, I wasn't sure on the a6 cam.
2.5 exhaust is too big for NA. 2.25 is as big as I would go, which is what I'm running now, but I'm thinking about dropping down to 2...bigger isn't always better. fidel, read what we both said, we both just recommended a MPFI swap, that isn't an engine swap. read what we said carefully

Re: Best Crx Dx Swap!!!!!!!!!!!!
You never said the engine was no good. Whats wrong with it? If it is FUBAR, your best bet is to see if you can luck out and find a d16a6 for cheap or find another d15b2 and do the MPFI. Your on a very low budget if you are wanting this done now, if it can be put on the back burner for awhile, you can wait and see what deals you can come across.

Re: Best Crx Dx Swap!!!!!!!!!!!!
And to answer your question on which is a good motor. First, read the link I was kind enough to provide you with. Second, it all depends on what you are wanting to do. I'm running a b18a1 because I got a decent deal on it, and I wanted the extra torque for pulling. I treat my white ED as a truck, not a car. I use it to pull my race car, pull whatever other car I want to pull and just today I pulled an old 3/4 ton flat bed Chevy that broke down with it, without one tire spin with loose gravel on the pavement.
My second hatch will just end up with a d16z6 in it because I have 2 of them laying around(did have 3 but I sold one). My race car has a d16z6 in it. My reasoning for the D series is I know more about the engines and they are a lot cheaper to build than a B, atleast the NA path they are.
