CAR-toon with a caricature

A friend is working on restoring/resto-moding an old truck.
Just got it going and shined up the old paint.

Got me to think of this idea and combined a toon with the owner's caricature.
I know lemorris has done some of these before and the inspired me to try one again.
Bought a ref book called "Face Off" by Harry Hamernik to help me better understand
caricature art.

Stated with the pencil doodle...

Did the vector line work in Expression...
(All done on one layer.)

And colored it using Artrage, a paint program, that way I could give it more of a pencil/marker caricature artist look...
(Used seven different layers under the line art, with colors applied with brush, pencil, marker, and pastel tools.)

Cool Re: CAR-toon with a caricature

In as much as I like to see finished art I tend to gravitate toward roughs and I got to say that your rough is fabulous!!

Thanks, and agree, there is often something special about that first pencil sketch that doesn't always make
it thru to the finished image

Re: CAR-toon with a caricature

Just did another quick one, (less than 8 hrs of drawing/PC time), for a Saleen Mustang owner who is a Batman fan...

Re: CAR-toon with a caricature

Nice truck and bat fox body. I like the 'hand' done look of the truck. The dude looks pretty good too!

Re: CAR-toon with a caricature

Thanks!

I was trying for that quick caricature toon look with the truck.
Artrage has been a good program for me to create a somewhat hand-drawn look
as if i were using pencils, markers, paint brushes and pastels in a digital image.
