After market Caliper bolts..1999malibou

Priced out GM caliper mounting bracket bolts & caliper guide pin bolts. Bolts, local GMc dealer- 35.00 each!!!
( yes,I live in Canada )

Specs on Bolts are a 10.9 class bolt(\Bracket) be tightened to 137 ft lbs .bolt supply house sells same pitch fine thread, same hardness, 19 mm head instead of the 12 mm head - 4.25 each. so I used one GMC bolt- three aftermarket bolts masured to the GMC original.

Same story for guide pin bolts 2.25 compared to 16.50 each at dealer.(8.8 calss bolt for strenght)

the larger head on the after market bolts makes them infinitely easier to torque.

will I run into any concerns? Has anyone else done this or an equivelent?

As long as they are comperable in strength and size than there is no problem. All it needs to do is hold the caliper in place, it doesn't have to look pretty!

Napa carries the caliper housing slide/bolt kits for under $10 a side

A machinst friend advises that since you have the larger heads, you may want to step up the torque to 137 ft/lbs instead of torquing it up non-stop in one fell swoop.

That is excellent advice, Johnny. I torqued them in steps & sequence. I also went with the full threaded larger head bolt from bolt supply on new caliper guides- easier to torque.

I really like Bolt Supply House- great prices- first class product & advice. I have gotten good service from the GM dealer, - but those parts prices
