99 ford windstar i tried something & it didn't work.wet key problem!HELP

my key got wet & we tried to dry that didn't work.i can't start my van.theft lights flashes really fast when i put in key & turn.some said to get rid of chip & key would start i did & it don't can i by pass my security system as i can't afford the $150.00 plus wrecker fee ford wants.any help please.thanks,debra

"Getting rid of the chip" is an absolute sure way to never start the engine ... choose carefully whom you listen too. Short of major rocket science, there is no way to bypass the security system ... like it or not! You need that original key to work. I would try a locksmith service to see if they can restore the chip and key.

Otherwise you will have to deal with the dealer ... or some high-end locksmith who has the programming means. You might find it cheaper to have the dealer/mechanic come to you with new key blanks (About $50 each ... get at least two) and the machine necessary for reprogramming. This way you might avoid the towing fee.
