I have a 2001 Ford F250 Crew cab 4wd turbo diesel. It will start upa nd run fine but it will shut off whenever it feels like it. There is no rhyme or reason to when or how often it will do this. Last time was on the interstate at 75mph. Happens sitting in the driveway idling sometimes. scanner shows no codes. Occasionally it willjerk and the check engine light will come on but when you turn the truck off and try to read the computer, it has no codes. HELP

Re: 2001 F250 7.3 T.Diesel, shutting off ?
The symptoms remind me very much of the diesel in this old thread. In post #6, Unclebubbles said this:

Re: 2001 F250 7.3 T.Diesel, shutting off ?
It's the Camshaft Position Sensor (also referred to as a CMP), and the wiring diagram I'm looking at for your model shows it as having three connecting wires, which are brown/white, dark green, light blue.
I was looking for a description of its specific location when I came across this thread - it appears to be the subject of a Ford safety recall - there's a link on that thread where you can type in your VIN number and see if your vehicle will be covered by it. |
