replaced battery now van don't start

I have a 98 dodge caravan with an alarm. It has a device i carry on my key chain that has to be in the vehicle in order to start. I replaced the battery now it doesn't start. Is there a way I have to reset the alarm or do I have to do something else??

Re: replaced battery now van don't start

Please clarify. Did you replace the battery in your vehicle or the battery in your key chain device?

First define "won't start". The definition varies.

Read something in a thread about cycling the key in the drivers door to reset the alarm system and the procedure is in the drivers manual. If you type "alarm caravan" in the search window ( open search button upper right) you will see many posts about the alarm system. Might find your answer there.

I have no idea what kind of security system it is. Everything turns on but the vehicle doesn't crank or turn over.

Re: replaced battery now van don't start

I hope you figured it out by now. If not, look under the dash near the steering column for a toggle switch. It may be hard to see. Flip the switch and engage the ignition with key. Lojack prevents starter engagement until the reset is performed after a battery disconnect.
