I've noticed recently that my day time running lights do not work. I've checked all the fuses and they are good. I looked in my manual and couldn't find anything that would help me. Now I'm turning to the forum for a possible solution. Any and all help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any help Cannon84 |

Re: Day time running lights don't work
Hmmmm,
Mine havn't worked since the day I bought the car....... On Purpose But could you explain what they are doing? Not on at all? Low beams on constantly? Check the sensor in the middle of your dash. There isn't a bunch of junk up there is there?

Re: Day time running lights don't work
Have they ever worked? Like Tim I disabled mine. Cuts down on the "on" time for my expensive Sylania Silver Stars. Moreover, I prefer to manually have control over my headlights.

Re: Day time running lights don't work
Sorry about not giving all the information. The lights don't come on automactically as they did when the vehicle was new. I prefer to have manual operations over them I just wanted to know the reason they didn't work just in case I decided to fix the problem. One thing that I did pick up from this post is that I do need to change to a higher intensity bulb. I replaced both headlight assemblies about a year ago but the day time running lights had stop working well before then.
Any suggestions on the best bulbs for replacement? The $14 or so bulbs from my local Autozone is not bright enough at night. Thanks, Cannon84 2000 Grand Prix GT 99,435 miles |

Re: Day time running lights don't work
Although the DRL fuse appears good did you check for 12 volts at the fuse socket? If 12 volts is there then you probably have a defective DRL module. It controls the auto headlamp system in addition to the daytime running lights. If 12 volts is missing then the problem is further back possibly the ignition switch or wiring fault.

Re: Day time running lights don't work
Hey
I learned of this a while back, seems none of you know of this You can disable day time running lights manual by unpluging a connector Open the drivers door , look on the dash that is covered by the door when its closed, there will be a small access panel, open it there will be a blue plug visable , PLUG IT IN if it is unplugged to have the running lights. vice versa to disable them.. Cheers
