93-96 corolla wagon experiences

I'm looking into buying a '93-'96 corolla wagon and was curious about a few things. Like what is the average gas mileage, how long do the engine and transmission usually last, what are some of the failings of those years, etc. I know the answers to those questions are pretty dependent on the care of the vehicle but, I'm mostly just looking for some opinions and experiences. Thanks.

Didn't know they made a Corolla station wagon. They made a Camry station wagon during that time frame.

Re: 93-96 corolla wagon experiences

i have a 1991 corolla wagon..my dad got it for me a few years ago and only paid 400 for it. and i just love it..its got about 200,000 miles and still going good..i think the engines have pretty long life spans..i had no problems at all with this car except that i have to bleed the clutch once in a while if it gets really cold at night..i get 35 miles per gallon...ive had a lot of cars and this one has been my favorite and the best running one...
and my mom had a camry wagon that was just as good

Re: 93-96 corolla wagon experiences

We have a '93 Corolla wagon in our fleet. It has close to 200,000 miles on it and I expect it to last to at least 400,000 miles. I'm sure it will require a transmission (auto) change sometime during it's life with us. It also will require several timing belts.
Used body parts are hard to find for them. Our wagon has the drivers rear door bashed in but it still functions fine.
Earlier wagons like ours have R-12 refrigerant in the AC system. They can be easily converted to R-134a refrigerant (like I did).
Fuel mileage on the wagon is the same as our other Corolla sedans.
With proper maintenance, the Corolla wagons have the same reliability as the Corolla sedans.
Good hunting.
