95 Transport Stalling

I currently was having problems with my Transport van (Betsy), she would continue to need charging and would work fine for awhile then would be completely dead. I took the battery and the alternator in to get tested and the battery was finished. I went and bought a new battery and all was good again. After a couple of days driving I took the van to work, and I started to notice the same behavior of the van again at intersections that when I had to compledtely stop at an intersection it would brake and almost have a jerking feeling to it and then stall. It started to do this again I slowed down to almost a complete stop and it stalled again. I was able to start the vehicle and drive to work and when I slowed down in the parking lot to stop it, it stalled again. After work, the van started fine and the problem was not noticed but not as bad when slowing down at intersection, I made it all the way home without any stalling. I'm hoping for a quick fix here. LOL .... yah right.

Re: 95 Transport Stalling

Well Betsy is sitting idle and I'm thinking of charging it up again and dragging it to the scrapyard because I can not rectify this problem, it almost appears as soon as the engine warms up (so a speak), it stalls when I slow down at the next intersection and it will not start until it sits for awhile. After which it can be started and driven until it warms up again and it stalls and it is dead until it sits again. Any suggestions?

Re: 95 Transport Stalling

When you slow down to an intersection, and it begins to show signs of stall, throw it into neutral and see if that prevents the stalling. If so, then its the torque converter lockup not disengaging.

You did not mention year or engine, which is important.

Re: 95 Transport Stalling

It's a 3.1 Engine in it and yes I have put it into neutral and I could go further but it got worse where I would need to continue to rev the engine to keep it going then put back into drive to keep going. It got worse from there and would completely stall.

Re: 95 Transport Stalling

Well sorry to say this vehicle is not going to happen. I have decided to scrap the vehicle and it's gone. Thanks for the posts everyone. Case closed
