E34 540 to 4.4 engine swap. Viable?

Hello, a little help here. I'm very comfortable with late 80's big six, and M-engines, but have yet to work on the V8. I bought a 95 540i, bad engine and all on Ebay last week. I have a chance to buy a 4.4 out of an X5 to potentially replace the 4 liter.

A few questions for thoes in the know:

Will it bolt up to the intake, exhaust, sensors, bellhousing etc. ?

Will there be problems with a 4.0 engine managment system on a 4.4 block?

Anybody with expierience?
