2000 323 Key Won't Open Door
Neither key will open the drivers door. The passenger door has no lock cylinder. The key works fine in the trunk, but will not open the door from there either. The remote in the key hasn't worked since we purchased the vehicle in May. Was able to get a hanger in the door and pulled on the handle but that wouldn't open the door either. Completely at a loss on how to get in to the car without breaking a window.

Re: 2000 323 Key Won't Open Door
On my '90 325ic I had to replace the central locking control (behind drivers side speaker) as well as the drivers door lock solenoid (I bought them from salvage at Bavarian recycling in CA). After all of that I also bought the key lock cylinder repair kit and then had the lock re-keyed to my key. I had a file on this but guess I lost it, you might try Googling E30 door lock repair or someone here might have the file. I used the diagram in my Haynes manual for repair info and real OEM parts for the part numbers I needed. Going on three years and all is still well.

www.mesaperformance.com has a faq that deals with the central locking issue, it is for E30 but I beleive it will work for you as well.

Re: 2000 323 Key Won't Open Door
I was lucky in that one door worked,( the drivers door could be opened but not locked from the outside and the passenger door was locked and would not open even if the Incredible Hulk was yanking on it). I believe that the central locking device controls the drivers door which in turn controls the passenger door, I too could open the trunk but that was little consolation.
