Dash cracks

My dash cracked in the middle where the screw goes into whatever mount is under there. Now it bounces up and down as I'm going down the road, just the very top, not an issue with anything working, just an annoying rattle basically. Because the plastic around the screw head basically cracked all the way around, is there an easy way to fix this?

Can you use a washer to grab more of the plastic around the srew head?

Holy cow, sometimes the simplest things escape us. I'll have to check, I know there's a recessed area that the screw sits down in, I might be able to get a bigger washer down there.....

If the piece that is broken off is in one or two pieces, you can use an epoxy to glue it all back together. I like Plastic Welder (stinks like he** but just about any 2-part epoxy will work. I'd use a clear formula so it isn't as noticeable if some happens to squeeze through during setting. Make sure it sets slow enough for you to put all the pieces in the right position before everything becomes permanent.

I also always apply it to the UNDERSIDE of the part (hidden from view). There you can slather it on thicker to help reinforce the part, then sand it flat so it can sit flush with the mating dash crossbrace. You can even epoxy a washer to the underside to give it more strength. When it's all done, it should look almost new. Hope this helps!

DITTO - two part epoxy is your friend on these old truck dash pieces. You use it to cuild back up the area that is missing. Also, don't be afraid to "slather" it on. The screws were made to tap themselves into the plastic on the first assembly, they will do the same thing with the epoxy, after it hardens.
