Is the check engine light on?There are two solenoids in the valve body that go bad. Also try adjusting the throttle valve cable and inspect it.If it looks bad, replace it and is a dealer part only.Another thing to check is the levers on the transmission, they come loose and this another common problem.

Sorry to be bearer of bad news buddy but you have either a bad gasket on your transmision pan or you have a bad gasket on your rear transmission housing in other words you are spewing transmissin fluid as you drive and if your having problems with shifting you need to get those gaskets fixed asap

Did the mechanic use the right transmision fluid?Yours only use the recomended Mopar fluid,ATF+4.Most parts stores now sell it instead of going to the dealer.

Re: 94 dodge ram 1500 transmission

WAIT A MINUTE!!!!!!! What are you guys telling this person. It is not low fluid!

It is the shift solenoid and pressure transducer (Governer Pressure Sensor) in transmission. Can be replaced by removing the pan. Shift Solenoid (OD) and PDM (Gov Press Sensor) are around 200 dollars from Dodge.

I had the same problem and this FIXED IT. Not the transmission Fluid level.

Here is a quote from another Post on this site::::::

this is a common failure... we have seen these governer pressure sensors fail often. most codes are governer pressure sensor volts too high or low, governer pressure sensor not equal to target.. Most of the time we replace the governer pressure sensor and soleniod.. I would recommend you to fix this problem if not you will end up burning the clutches in the trans... The trans pan needs to be removed....the sensor is bolted to the valve body and is located on the pass front side of the valve body

Re: 94 dodge ram 1500 transmission

Hi,
I noticed u guys seem to know a lot about these transmissions. I have a 96 dodge automatic problem. The other day, it wouldn't shift outta first gear. We had to leave it at a walmart parking lot. We came back for it a couple of days later, and it still wouldn't shift. We beat around on the tranny with a deadblow hammer, and then it shifted. Sometimes, before this happend, when you would be driving around 45 in drive, not accelerating or slowing down, it would constantly lock and unlock the torque convertor. Any suggestions?
