Re: F1 up for auction

Nice, but their description, referring to this car as "the last roadgoing F1 ever produced" is brutally inaccurate.

Re: F1 up for auction

i don't believe that they were saying that is was the last production car...just that is was the last production car that was sold...since it was the show car for the mclaren showroom. whether that is true or not i have no clue...but i think that is what they were trying to say

Re: F1 up for auction

What you suggest should indeed be true, but how it is worded in their auction description is not correct. I think part of the confusion centers around people knowing that there were 64 production road cars and this being chassis #065. How they make that work in their heads is a mystery to me, but there were similar claims made when McLaren originally sold this car a few years back.

I remember when this car went up for sale, there was a short write-up about it in AutoWeek. At the time, they said it was the last unregistered F1 as it had been on display in the showroom, but not the last one produced. Looks like these lot have their "lasts" mixed up.

As I was reading it, I wondered about something else that you may be able to clarify: Were the XPs considered part of the production run? I was never quite sure if they were part of the 64 road cars or not.

XPs were counted separately.

Very interesting!!

This chassis is being handled like a piece of art work The car was designed to be driven, lets hope the new owner puts some mileage on it.
