cooling problem

i have a 97 passat glx with 2.8 motor when it gets warmed up it starts to shoot antifreeze out of overfill tank . the thermostat sits at about 190 degrees . anyone got any ideas

have you replaced the thermostat and flanges? common issue for overheating. Do the fans come on?
