fuel sender

I am in the process of doing my sending unit at home ..taking my time no rush...going well , except why wont the ##&# screw on that holds the whole unit to the tank thread on ..is some kinda trick to this ...losing my mind...simple step just one big pita...help

Assuming its '99 thru '05, then you just smack the large retaining ring with a small hammer and wood block--should spin 20-30 degrees and come loose.

Do a decent job cleaning it up before you try to open it again. Could be something in the way you missed. You don't want dirt in there anyway.

if your trying to put the lock ring back on .you have to push down and turn the ring. be sure to keep it level or the threads will not start.once you get it started then tap it until it locks.
