heated mirrors not working on 96

hello , im guessing the rear defrotser button activates the heated mirrors...the defroster works but no mirror heat...can anyone give me a starting point it will be cold soon in buffalo ...thanks

Check your owner's manual. I think the mirrors are supposed to be activated by the rear defroster like you said. How did you test the heated mirrors to determine they don't work? They won't get as hot as your rear window. I'm not sure that breathing on them and not seeing the fog dissipate quickly is a good test. Do you have an IR non-contact thermometer? If so, try it to determine if they are getting warmer than ambient.

There's a lot of good, useful, and often overlooked information in the owner's manual. If you don't have one, there are sites where you can download them. Some of those sites have been posted on the forum in the past. Finding those posts will be good practice with using the "Search this forum" feature from the Taurus Forum main page.
