Transmission RE-Programming

2007 Dakota V6 4 spd Auto
Can the transmission be reprogrammed? I don't like how little pressure on the throttle causes the transmission to downshift so easily, often two gears down. I was used to driving a manual and am finding it hard to get used to the auto.
