heat shield question does anybody have any problems with their CRV's heat shield? a mechanic told me that it's about to fall off that's why it's making that rattling noise when i start it..any input is greatly appreciated! Thanks=)

this happens not a big deal.

There are a couple heatshields under Hondas. The most common to come loose & rattle or fall off is the cat. convertor heatshields. They are there for a reason & should be replaced if missing or loose. Cat. convertor isnt not cheap at all, from Honda your looking $700 minimum, just for parts.

Any ideas on how difficult it is to replace the heat shields. Mine need to be replaced. I looked under the car and it doesn't seem like a big job. Do I need a service manual or am I cool just using my horse sense.

take off the heatshield. just a 12 or 14mm bolt.
