1997 Chevy Blazer Engine Missing

A couple weeks ago, I posted a question. My 1997 Chevy Blazer was missing on lazy hills when the accelerator was only depressed lightly. I had already replaced the entire ignition system, fuel pump and fuel injectors. I received advice here that it may not be a defective part, but that the timing may be off. I took it to the mechanic. He told me the cam retard (?) was set at -14 degrees and was suprised it even ran. He reset it to -1 degrees. Fixed the problem! Runs like a champ. Thanks for the help.

Glad you found a good tech and got it fixed.
If you had a thread about it here it is best to answer back to the first post.

Re: 1997 Chevy Blazer Engine Missing

I spoke too soon. The truck ran great for the past few weeks. Low and behold, the check engine light came on again. I tried starting it when I left work yesterday and I had to crank it 2-3 times before it would start. The check engine light came on and it was code 1351 (ignition module). I replaced it and it ran fine. I left work today, and the check engine light came on again. Code 1351 again. I left Autozone and by the time I got home (10 minutes later), the check engine light went off. Any suggestions?

Well az is doing there thing.
Giving free codes checks.
Trying to be mechanics instead of parts people.
Checking codes and selling you parts you do not need.
First thing.
Does it still run good?
Code 1351 is not a ign module code nor does it say replace ign module.

Code P1351 reads.
Ign control circuit high voltage.
Which can be caused by many things.
Bad wiring or plugins or coil or module and other ign parts or even the VC or injector or injector wiring.

To repair for that code you will need the repair flow chart for that code.
Plus a good a good wiring diagram and volt ohm meter.
A factory repair manual or All data online sub will have the repair flow chart.

Re: 1997 Chevy Blazer Engine Missing

I got lucky, since I bought an ignition module with a lifetime warranty, they gave me a new one for free.
But no, it isn't running good now. It seems that whenever I turn on the Ac or heater, the engine starts missing. Do you know where the ground wire for the ignition module ties in? Is it a common ground that goes to the frame?

Re: 1997 Chevy Blazer Engine Missing

You are better off using the Ac-delco OEM parts.

The link below has all the wiring diagrams power and ground and the repair flow chart for the code you are getting.
Plus all of the other repair info and TSB's
The only way you are going to get to the bottom of it is to.
Get the repair flow chart and go threw it.

Good luck
